- Liam McDonough Wins UKWA Warehouse Manager of the Year Award
Bowker’s Liam McDonough Named UKWA Warehouse Manager of the Year
Bowker is pleased to announce that Liam McDonough, General Manager of the company’s Selby Distribution Centre, has been awarded Warehouse Manager of the Year at the UK Warehousing Association (UKWA) Awards, held on 9th July.
Liam’s career at Bowker exemplifies progression, innovation, and leadership. Since joining the business in 2014 as an entry-level warehouse operator at age 22, Liam has consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication, operational expertise, and a passion for continuous improvement. Earlier this year, he was appointed General Manager of Bowker’s 25,000m² AA BRCGS-certified Selby site, where he leads a team of 54 employees.
Under his leadership, the Selby site has delivered outstanding results, including an audited stock accuracy of 99.9996% and the successful development of an innovative warehouse asset management app, now rolled out across all 11 Bowker distribution centres. The site also recently retained its AA BRCGS accreditation — the highest possible rating — reflecting Liam’s focus on quality and operational excellence.
Liam has also played a central role in the growth of a pre-retail configuration operation which has scaled from 100,000 to nearly 5 million cases annually while maintaining operational excellence and strong customer relationships.
Colleagues and customers alike commend his hands-on leadership, focus on team development, and ability to drive innovation. Nick Brightey, Transport & Regional Director at Bowker, commented:
"Liam’s growth within the company has been remarkable. His ability to adapt, lead, and innovate has made him an invaluable asset to our operations. We are incredibly proud of his achievements and the positive influence he has on the business."
Bowker congratulates Liam on this well-deserved industry recognition and looks forward to his continued success in driving operational excellence and innovation.
