Bowker’s Thorne Distribution Centre Retains BRCGS AA Accreditation in 2026 Audit
Bowker’s Thorne Distribution Centre is proud to announce it has successfully retained its BRCGS AA accreditation following its 2026 audit, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to the highest standards in food safety, quality and operational excellence.
The BRCGS (Brand Reputation through Compliance Global Standards) AA grade is awarded to sites demonstrating consistently high levels of compliance during a scheduled audit. Achieving and maintaining this standard highlights Bowker’s robust quality management systems and its dedication to delivering excellence across its storage and distribution operations.
General Manager of the Thorne DC, Joe Caunce, praised the team for their continued performance:
"Retaining our AA accreditation in this year’s audit is a fantastic achievement and reflects the consistent standards our team delivers every day. It’s a credit to the dedication, attention to detail and professionalism across the site. We’re committed to continuous improvement and this result demonstrates the strength of our processes and our people."
Joe Caunce, who was appointed General Manager in early 2025 following his tenure leading Bowker’s Selby site, has brought a wealth of operational expertise and industry experience to the role. His leadership continues to drive standards and foster a culture of accountability and excellence across the Thorne operation.
Since expanding into the Thorne Distribution Centre in February 2023, Bowker has continued to strengthen its position within the food-grade logistics sector. Strategically located to support manufacturers and distributors across the UK and international markets, the 31,000-pallet, 165,000 ft² facility provides efficient nationwide coverage and modern, flexible storage solutions. The site supports a diverse portfolio of sectors, including food-grade products, packaging, retail, e-commerce and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCGs).
This latest accreditation further reinforces Bowker’s reputation as a trusted logistics partner within the food industry. Customers can be confident that quality, safety and compliance remain embedded at every level of the business. With ongoing investment in training, infrastructure and quality systems, Bowker’s Thorne Distribution Centre continues to operate at the forefront of the food-grade supply chain.
